Pesara pappu Tomato kootu


Kootu is special dish in south India famous among Andhrites, Tamilians and Keralites . Some f them use kootu podi . Some of them don't. In my family tradition we never used kootu podi as such . But I read it from various blogs the recipe for kootu podi. This recipe doesnt use kootu podi . Dont forget to add hing. The aroma fills entiiiiiire home :)
INGREDIENTS :- 
Moong dal :- 2 cups
Tomato :- ripen ( 2 big chopped)
Coconut :- pieces(1/2 cup)
Green chillies :- (1-2)
Ginger-Garlic paste :- 1 teaspoon (fresh one grated at home )
Urad dal :- 1 teaspoon
Jeera :-  1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds :- 1 teaspoon
Red chillies :- 2-3
Curry leaves :- 4-5
Coriander/Dhania :- chopped (for garnishing)
Turmeric :- a pinch
Salt :- as required
Oil :- 1 tablespoon (you can use still less oil)
Hing : a pinch
METHOD :-
  1. Pressure cook moong dal and tomatoes together till soft.
  2. After removing from cooker add tumeric, salt and keep aside.
  3. In a pan add oil and after its sufficiently hot , add urad dal, jeera, mustard, curry leaves , red chillies allow to splutter. Add hing and ginger-garlic paste and fry until rawness is gone.
  4. Add boiled moong dal-tomato.Simmer for few minutes..
  5. Meanwhile grind together coconut-green chilly into coarse powder. 
  6. Add this to simmering moong dal-tomato.
  7. Simmer for few more minutes and its ready :)
