I actually was asking my mom for different recipe of poha other than the regular method over the phone and she gave me suggestion regarding this. I found it weird!! But when I made it, it tasted sooooo good. It’s healthy, nutritious as well as tasty. So felt like sharing with you all
INGREDIENTS:-
Any vegetables you like .
I used:-
I used:-
Cabbage (chopped finely):- 1 cup
Carrot (chopped finely):- 1 cup
Matar: - half cup
Capsicum (chopped finely):- 1 cup
Atukulu (Poha): - 4 cups (serves 2)
Tamarind: - lemon sized ball ( soak it for 10-15 minutes)
Turmeric: - a pinch
Chillies: - 1 or 2 according to the level of spiciness you need.
Salt: - As per the taste
For popu /tadka/seasoning:
Oil (for tadka):- 1 teaspoon
Urad dal: - 1 teaspoon
Jeelakarra(Jeera):-1/2 teaspoon
Mustard seeds: - ½ teaspoon
METHOD:-
- Boil all the vegetables till they are soft.
- Squeeze the pulp out of tamarind and pour into vessel containing poha and mix it and keep it aside for a while. (just need to keep it for 5-10 minutes. If kept for longer times poha may be become very soft). Do not add any extra water. The pulp is enough. Poha need not immerse in the pulp or water.
- In a kadai put the oil and add urad dal ,jeera and mustard seeds and allow them to sizzle.
- Add chillies and allow it to cook.
- Add the boiled vegetables, poha soaked in tamarind pulp, turmeric and salt.
- Mix well and server hot.
You can use any chutney as side dish
